What product will the T-Mobile chic bash now???

The same one: AT&T's network. The phones never really mock the phone so much as they mock the slow network.

Nonsense. It means nothing of the sort. Check back in 6 months, 3 months or even 1 month and see a) how many ppl are still using it, and b) how many ppl are buying it once the first blush of excitement is over.

Sorry, your answer is nonsense. 300,000 paid downloads means plenty. People paid for the darn thing. People think they want it now. If they want it in the future remains to be seen, but you and I can't determine that.

    Snowy-

Any professional copy shop should be able to take your sequential, 5.5" x 8.5" size pages and turn it into a booklet with binding in the middle. My understanding is that they have super-expensive machines that can do that without much effort.

I don't think you need to futz around with a non-sequential layout unless you plan to print this out yourself without the use of fancy $40,000+ copiers.

Even though they had their most successful quarter, overly high expectations and a US economic recession is the reason. It's expected, the whole market is in decline.

Which reminds me. Every time I've bought an OS upgrade ( for as long as I can remember - probably back to OS 7 ) there has been a set of coupons included to prove that I purchased it. Has there ever been a scheme where customers actually get something in exchange for those coupons ?

I believe there was a coupon upgrade program for 10.0 to 10.1. It was a "free" upgrade that cost $19.95 if you ordered the CD from the online store, but there were some copies available free of charge at some retail locations (this was pre-brick and mortar Apple Stores) like CompUSA and Fry's while supplies lasted. Many retailers didn't require proof of 10.0 ownership as the 10.1 was upgrade-only and thus useless to people who didn't have 10.0 installed already, but some asked for proof of purchase for 10.0. The coupon generally satisfied that requirement (as would a sales receipt).

The comparison photos are out of focus with blown highlights...not exactly what one would want for evaluation and the measurement link is a sample of one...when someone has measured five different black phones and found no difference in size, get back to me,,,,

I'm looking forward to it, although I'm hoping the LED IPS display issues are resolved, I don't want to have to deal with yellow tint or dead pixels..

It'd be great if Apple had the same no dead pixel policy as Dell..

Also hoping for a new design..

pfft, this should not be front page news, hell not even second page... just a bunch of hearsay from a CR that knows nothing about it and speculates BS.

It's funny that it was reported and it's funny seeing people treat it as credible.

Don't remove the , it indicates the sarcasm in that comment. I was pointing out to the guy the fallacy of his argument in diminishing Google's work that he was also diminishing Apple's work on OS X.

I believe both companies have a lot of merit for what they did. I'm not pro-anything or anti-anything here. The point of my comment was to say that Apple and Google put in a lot of effort into making their OSes.

Now you're arguing what exactly aside from just wanting to insult me ?

I don't know if he was talking foul about Apple's work.

Absolutely true ? When did Web browsers start to do process scheduling, user input, graphical sub-systems, GUI frameworks, hardware interaction, etc.. etc..

Chrome OS is much more than a browser, it's very much a OS who's desktop environnement happens to be a Web browser, rather than a file explorer like Finder.

So you think, Google's Chrome OS invented or made all these things possible?
    Were there no browsers before?

Again, let's drop the Google hate. It has no place in this thread. Why do you insist on beating on them ? Leave the corporate politic between Steve and Eric (now Larry) and let's discuss OS X some.

    Sure, lets drop that. Sure.

I don't insist. I for once really like them on certain grounds, but absolutely don't on the other. Similarly with Apple; as both are for-profit organizations.

So the reason apple charges more is because??? Seems like google is a better deal.

    1. Professional conferences cost that much.
    2. Apple sends 1000 of their engineers that you can talk with. Who is Google sending? How accessible are they?
    3. WWDC is more days.

Number 2 above is one of the reasons that it would be difficult to move to a larger venue. It might accommodate more people, but the real value is getting to talk with Apple engineers and ask questions. If they made the venue larger, your chances of getting to talk with them becomes slim. It's a tough problem to solve.

AT&T has a problem. I've been a customer for many years. Most of my family are AT&T customers. We all live in different parts of the country and we all experience the same problems. Very frequent, way too frequent, dropped calls. I know the naysayers and apologists here say to give AT&T a break. They are experiencing growing pains. Here's what I have to say.

First of all, my iPhone is a Phone! I expect the phone part of the iPhone to work above all else. It's nice to have the apps but I expect the phone to work 100% of the time. That's what I'm paying for. If AT&T needs to figure out a way to throttle down the data then that's what they need to do during peak usage. Phone calls should be the priority for a phone! I still have a Gen 1 iPhone and will not upgrade until AT&T resolves their problems. When I get tired of waiting for that to happen and my iPhone dies, I'll switch phones and networks.

That is why iPhone (4) sales will remain close to zero until the iPhone 5 introduction. A white iPhone 4 will not change that very much.

????? When did this happen? You do realize that 99% of consumers don't follow this stuff that close and have no idea when products are released.

The audience here are the most toughest critics, but general public will appreciate the changes.
I personally see nothing wrong with making software look like a real thing. It's one of the most natural user interfaces because people know how to use books, paper, and folder tabs.

The problem with making iCal look like the real thing (in this case a leather bound calendar) is that brown leather bound calendars are hideous!

I can't believe that the same company that hires Jonathan Ives to design such sleek, 60s modern hardware, can show such incredibly "bling" taste on the GUI design front.

    No offense though, please. YMMV.
