Can you point me to were you are getting your 2TB hard drives for free?

I am pretty sure you won't be storing 2TB of your music with Apple for $20/yr.

Is it even known yet exactly how this will work? The fact that Apple needed to make agreements with all of the labels makes this service look a little suspect to me. For example, would I be allowed to store my music that was ripped from a CD under a different label (one which Apple doesn't have an agreement?)

That and Apples incredible profit is what makes them look so paranoid, petty, and stupid.

Instead of acting like the world class company they could be, Apple comes across as fools.

I must admit, I'm much happier being seen with my Galaxy S.

When one is seen in this town (New York) with an iPhone they look at you like "oh, you're one of those snobs".

Yet the irony is they're a dime a dozen here.

Well, say what you want to say but stop abusing Apple fans. For once, you should realise you are on a Apple fan site. Love Apple or hate Apple, show some decency towards Apple fans.

Guys, I didn't want to start a new thread, but...

Should I buy the ix.Mac.MarketingName now? I've heard the ix.Mac.MarketingName 2 is going to be much more betterer. Should I buy now or wait? I was waiting for the price to come down, but it hasn't changed in the entire 5 minutes I've known about this product...

    Sent by ix.Man.NotVerySerious

If it has retina and Thunderbolt, I'm getting first gen. You can always sell it on Craigslist the day before Gen 2 comes out for twice what you paid for it.

    I'm hoping iPhone 5 supports HSPA+.

That's PLENTY fast. Every bit as fast as current LTE networks.

Not really. There are some markets where Verizon LTE is able to pull down over 10 MB/s, which T-mobile's HSPA+ and WiMax can't touch.

It seems like a major problem with this would be the fact that you get no tactile feedback. However, I have tapping enabled on my iBook and I don't find it odd or uncomfortable at all then I "click" on something. I'm sure it would take some getting used to, but I imagine that it could work.

The guy heading up the MOKB thing said that MacOSX's kernel (XNU) was the easiest kernel to crack. If that makes you feel safe, then go ahead and feel safe, but for me, even though I use extremely good security practices and networking measures, I still would rather have Apple get serious aboud security and start hardening their system more so that guys who are only fuzzing and stress testing can't come up with 10 vulnerabilities in a month.

The "guy" heading up that thing is sketchy, to say the least...instead of showing yourself as "LHM", be a man and publish your identity as well as your corporate of his points was already debunked, more will follow...he seems much more like someone looking for publicity and page hits than a serious researcher, as others have said in the specialized media. So for me, someone who "says that the OS X kernel is the easiest" is as reliable as someone who says that "oompa-loompa" is a OS X virus in the wild...

I couldn't care less about its remarks, notwithstanding the obvious need for any company to secure its OS as much as possible.

For more clarification and less FUD:

How did I become Plutonius' most-likely-a-ww vote on the very first day? I've been a WW before, and a Special before, making me anything but a Villager would be pretty obvious.

The 21.5'' has a 512MB GPU while the 15'' MBP has a 1GB GPU, same chipset. There's no reason why would they do this except to push potential buyers to the 27''. This is ridiculous. If it were to keep the iMac price down, they would've added as a BTO.

    seriously doubt it.

Too big, too expensive, too many costs associate with transport/housing/shipping.
Saturate market with great quality products, fierce competition and very low profit margins.

In another words something Apple basically want to avoid.

Seriously dude, you're in the wrong thread.

This isn't the "What Is Your Wish?" or "Random Thought For The Day" thread.

People are talking about tax returns and yes I spent about everything I made on my computer, I am a full time college student. And half the posts in this thread are about who started it and why they started it so early...

I think you are all wrong. On the BMW model names "ix" stands for a fuel injection engine and four-wheel drive. I believe there is an OS M coming for certain BMW models.

OS M-series would be awesome but I just can't afford the insurance.

Not sure if I would consider "AJA, BlackMagic, and Promise" to be "industry demand." :) I'll give ya Promise.

For video/digital cinema post & production, which NAB is all about, AJA and Blackmagic are very much major players.

I dont know of any wireless phone that could support real 4G speeds. Besides on a mobile device, do I really need more than 20mb down, 5 up? Thats already faster than my cable modem lol.

I think Verizon 4G is useful at times. YouTube videos load quick on it, and the upload speed is 5x as fast as my cable modem speed :P. My Verizon 4G speed is about 15 down, 35 up. When YouTube videos stop and freeze while loading and you have to wait, you somewhat wish you had the 4G speed.

If Lion does give you the ability to emulate iOS apps on your Mac....

How do you control them? A touch-screen iMac is a non-starter because of the "Frankenstein Posture", not to mention the smudges on the screen. A touch-screen laptop wouldn't be much better. I don't like the lying-down-iMac like in that recent patent, but maybe that's just me.

The Magic Trackpad is already a touchscreen, just with no display behind it. What if a new one came out with a display and some kind of ARM processor? (It could be an old, really cheap onethe Mac would be doing the heavy lifting.) You could pretend it was an iDevice, download apps for it, interact with them on the trackpad while the main display mirrored what you were doing.

Building the same functionality into laptop trackpads would be a later step, if this caught on, but wouldn't such a Magic Trackpad be an iDevice: "iX", associated with a "Mac", that they just haven't thought up a name for yet? It would debut this summer with Lion, to take advantage of the fusion between iOS and OS X.

We'll have to do it for iPhone 5 this summer - lol :)

One of thie things I liked about VMWare for the PC was the fact that i could boot from a physical partition (as opposed to Parallel's virtual volume). Is this also the case for the OS X version -- in short, can we boot the 'bootcamp'ed partition from within os x?

    Apr 24, 09:52 PM
Apparently it has an A5 chip.

So let me get this straight: You keep reinstalling the demo of Parallels, thereby ripping off the company and not supporting it to make it the best product it can be and keep the company in business, and then you have the gall to come out in public and say as such, and then on top of that you have the even greater gall to say it sucks?

Oh yeah, your opinions mean a lot to us now, that's for sure.

I'll reiterate: something is wrong with your computer, and now I can see why.

No I've been waiting for VM to get their butt in gear to launch Workstation. Parallels was simply a work around, a crappy one at that, until I could get VMWare. There is simply no way in heck I'm spending $80 on a piece of software that can crash my system. And before someone tells me to use Bootcamp. Yah right. Advanced Power Management does not work right under Bootcamp even with the latest version. When Parallels starts making a product that
    1. Doesn't crash\freeze my system
    2. Doesn't require me to force quite the application once every couple of weeks because the progress bar when I'm suspending a session has stalled.
    3. Doesn't have sharing between folders that takes a good 5 seconds to parse the files and doesn't drop a file mapping in your file explorer.
    4. Doesn't have the world's crappiest networking passthrough. I can't count how many times I've gone from one network to another to another and had it get confused telling me I might have limited network connectivity. So I need to repair the connection.

Parallels sucks but until now its been the only REAL game in town. Boo hoo I'm not paying for an app that IMHO is half baked to begin with. At least I'm not outright going in search of a seral number and pirating the thing. Again its a tide me over until VM gets their butt in gear and releases this thing.
